The districts and councils of Cartagena will once again benefit from the regional investment, thanks to the commitment that the mayor Ana Belén Castejón started to the current president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López-Miras, in the meeting held this summer and that today has been materialized in the Regional Council of Local Cooperation.
In this way, the City of Cartagena has managed to resume the Plan of Neighborhoods and Provincial Councils, which will have a budget of 969,628 euros to develop projects over the next two years.
"This plan is of vital importance for this municipality, since 2 of every 3 citizens of Cartagena live in neighborhoods and councils.
We are proud of having managed to get the Autonomous Community to amend the mistake it made in suppressing this plan in 2011, but now we must correct the deficiencies that have occurred as a result of that error, "said the mayor.
Ana Belén Castejón has emphasized that Cartagena needs a greater investment from the Community.
"The City Council can not assume as many powers as the regional government intends and we will continue to demand that the budget be more in line with our needs, because I want to remember that when this Barrios Plan began, the amount exceeded 3 million euros," he explained.
