The lagoons of Cabezo Beaza hosted on Saturday February 3 the act "artificial lagoons harboring valuable diversity" in the sewage treatment plant (WWTP), on the occasion of World Wetlands Day, which was on Friday, February 2.
This event, in which the City Council of Cartagena, Hidrogea and ANSE have participated, has been carried out with the aim of emphasizing the environmental role of wetlands as a support for a great biodiversity, specifically artificial ones, which serve as a place of rest and breeding for birds in migratory movements.
The day, attended by the councilor of the Area of ​​Quality of Life and Welfare, Obdulia Gómez, consisted of an ornithological route around the Cabezo Beaza.
Also, the children could also enjoy a nest box workshop for bats.
The event was attended by around 30 people, because for security issues, you could not carry out a massive activity.

Every year on February 2, World Wetlands Day is celebrated to raise global awareness of the important role of wetlands for people and the planet.
This year's theme, 'Wetlands for a sustainable urban future', highlights the important role of wetlands for sustainable urbanization.
Urban wetlands are essential and contribute to make cities more pleasant to live.
