Culture expands the exhibition of Lidó Rico at the Muram de Cartagena until March 11 (02/02/2018)

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment extends until March 11 the exhibition 'Corpus', by Lidó Rico (Yecla, 1968), which can be seen since the end of last September at the Regional Museum of Modern Art of Cartagena (Muram).

The counselor Javier Celdrán visited the artist's studio in Yecla today, and stressed that "it is a privilege to look into the creation space of one of Murcia's most solid artists with a greater international projection, such as Lidó Rico, who started this 2018 exhibiting his works, as well as in Cartagena, Berlin and Istanbul. "

Regarding the exhibition 'Corpus', he recalled that "more than a hundred works are those that make up this interesting project that can be seen in one of our reference museums, the Muram de Cartagena, and that covers the last decades of creation of the yeclano. "

An exhibition, he added, "which is having a great reception, since 7,138 people have visited it since its opening, and we have decided to extend it until March and give the opportunity to anyone who has not yet done so to enter the particular universe of this artist ".

The exhibition is composed of small and large-scale works and installations that the visitor will find in the halls of the museum building and also on the noble floor of the modernist palace.

The vast majority are sculptures in polyester resin, bronze and other materials that span from the early 90s to 2015.

The work of Lidó Rico revolves around the use of his own body (head, arms, torso ...) as a tool and an element within the work itself, establishing new parameters and concepts in relation to the body, space and natures that arise between them.

The creator literally submerges his body in different materials to get the mold of the pieces, developing his production between the performative and the sculptural.

Celdrán indicated that a large part of the exhibits come from the artist's own collection, as well as from the Autonomous Community's funds, "works that are part of the heritage of all Murcia and to which we try to give visibility through different exhibitions and performances, especially when it comes to creative pieces from our Region, since the promotion and diffusion of the Murcian culture is one of the priority objectives of the regional government ".
