The general director of Health Assistance Murciano Health Service (SMS), Roque Martinez, described today as "absolutely unacceptable" the information issued by the City of Cartagena, through his councilor for Health, "unnecessarily alarming the population with data false on the care organization for acute myocardial infarction care ".
Roque Martinez described as "reckless" the statements made by the City Council and appealed "to the responsibility of public representatives with health information."
In his opinion, "you can not deliberately manipulate reality to put it at the service of interests of part."
In this regard, he said that "there has been no death as a result of the time schedule of hemodynamics in the Region of Murcia" and added that since the primary angioplasty was started in 2000, 24 hours a day , every day of the year, at the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital, about 500 angioplasties are performed annually to patients throughout the Region with excellent results.
Attention to infarction in the Region of Murcia is based on a Regional Strategy based on better care for patients, according to the criteria established by the specialists in the field, who have been working in the Community for almost 20 years, with some results "that have allowed us to reduce by 25 percent the mortality due to heart attack in our Region", explained the person in charge of Sanitary Assistance of SMS.
Currently, a group of experts is reviewing said protocol to proceed with its update, based on the new scientific evidences and the assistance data by health areas of the Region.
Roque Martínez indicated that "once this work is concluded, the existing protocols will be modified if necessary".
The coordinated and multidisciplinary work "has allowed us to advance in the cohesion of the methods, to give better assistance," said the general director of Health Assistance, who said that "the analysis of the different evaluations carried out allows us to conclude that the Region has good results that reflect the influence of the assistance measures introduced ".
Roque Martínez added that "early diagnosis of infarction, rapidity in administering reperfusion treatment, safety in transfers, coordination between levels of care and medication administered, are factors that contribute to this success in the care of these pathologies. "
