For the second consecutive year, the City of Cartagena stands as the most transparent and participatory in its public communication through the municipal website, to meet 100 percent of the parameters that the Journalism and Communication Laboratory for Plural Citizenship (LPCCP) ) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in collaboration with the University of Murcia, performs for the award of the Infoparticipa stamps.
The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Public Function, Francisco Aznar, has been pleased by this result that recognizes the work of various municipal departments that work every day to offer citizens complete and transparent information on the management of their municipality.
In fact, Aznar has added, the town council Cartagenero and the information published on its website (www.cartagena.es) is the only one in the region that manages to get a full in all sections, followed by Las Torres de Cotillas with a 96.15 percent;
San Pedro del Pinatar, with 94.23 percent;
Sewer, with 92.31 percent;
Eagles and Lorquí with 90.38 percent;
Mule with 85.54 percent and the City of Murcia with 80.77.
The issues that have been evaluated have been the quantity and quality of the information that is offered about the political representatives, how the collective and economic resources are managed;
the information about the municipality and about the management of its resources;
and the tools that are offered for citizen participation.
In the section of the political representatives, among others are the publication of the biographies and curriculum, remuneration and the form of contact with the councilors, as well as the institutional agenda of the mayor.
Regarding the management of collective resources, the information that is offered on the composition of the governing bodies, their competences, work agenda and call for meetings, as well as the publication of their agreements and municipal regulations, is valued. others.
With regard to the management of economic resources, the publication of budgets and their execution, salaries of municipal staff, contracting of services and works and granting of grants, among others, stands out.
In the section on information provided about the municipality and its management, the publication of news about the actions of both the Government and members of the opposition in its work of control of the executive stands out;
as well as the development of plenary sessions, debates and motions.
Likewise, the information on municipal and citizen activities is valued.
Finally, the tools offered for citizen participation are indicated, with the possibility of accessing a directory of entities and associations of the municipality, consulting topics of local interest or presenting proposals, complaints or suggestions.
The evaluation of the 45 municipalities in the region took place during the months of November, December 2017 and until January 15, 2018. The indicators used are the same as in the previous edition in which the City Council also obtained the highest assessment;
but on this occasion some qualitative aspects foreseen by law have been taken into account.
The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 12.30 pm at the cultural center "Las Claras", home of the social and cultural work of Cajamurcia, calle Santa Clara, 1 de Murcia.
