The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) continues to increase the collection of competitive funds for research.
In the latest call for R & D projects of the state programs of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, whose resolution is still provisional, the UPCT has secured funding for 16 projects, six more than last year, for an amount of 1,500 .300 euros, 38% more.
The result confirms the trend detected in the Accountability Report presented this month by the UPCT, which reflected an accumulated increase since 2014 of 65% in funds raised for research in competitive calls.
Specifically, eleven R + D projects will be financed by the 'Challenges of society' program and five by the subprogram 'Generation of knowledge' to promote scientific and technical research of excellence.
The increase in the number of accepted applications will have its counterpart in a greater bureaucratic effort to justify the hours of dedication of researchers to the project, given the tightening of anti-fraud measures in public procurement, warns the Vice-Rector for Research, Beatriz Miguel.
Raúl Zornoza, Alfredo Palop, Pablo Bielza, Héctor Conesa, Catalina Egea, Victoriano Martínez and Marcos Egea, of the School of Agronomists;
Rafael Toledo and Pedro Javier Navarro, of the School of Telecommunications;
Emma García Meca, from the Faculty of Business Sciences, and Antonio Sánchez Káiser, from Industriales, are the researchers responsible for the eleven selected 'Challenges of society'.
It stands out, for the amount of its direct costs, 590,000 euros, the participation project in the payload of the Euclid satellite of the European Space Agency.
The projects of the UPCT chosen in the program 'Generation of knowledge' are led by María Dolores Bermúdez, Fernando Illán, Joaquín López and Ignacio González, from the Survey of Industrialists, and María Victoria Bueno from Telecomunicación.
Agricultural productivity, functional vegetables, desalinated irrigation in hydroponic systems, microbiological safety, automatic phenotyping of floral genes, phytomomane of contaminated soils, professionalization of management councils, energy efficiency in air conditioning, gears, additive manufacturing, heat pumps, nanomaterials and optical networks they are the other themes of the Polytechnic projects financed by the Ministry.
