More than 300 athletes participated on Wednesday, January 24, in the municipal phase "Playing Athletics" in juvenile category, which is developed within the Physical Activity and Sports Program in School Age organized by the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena and in collaboration with the General Directorate of Sports of the Region of Murcia.

Twenty-nine schools in the municipality met in this edition with teams in men and women: CP Los Alumbres, CP San Isidro, CP City Garden, Leonardo da Vinci, CP La Concepcion, CP Anibal, CP Stella Maris, Sagrada Familia, CP Luis Calandre, CP Santa Florentina La Palma, CP San Isidoro, CP Virgen de Begoña, CP San Francisco Javier, CES La Vaguada, Narval, CP Poet Antonio Oliver, CP Virgen del Carmen, CP Vicente Ros, CP Azorín, CP San Cristóbal, CP Virginia Pérez, CP San Félix, CP Fernando Garrido, Miralmonte, CP San Antonio Abad, CES San Juan Bosco, CP Santiago Apóstol, Santa María Micaela and CP San Fulgencio.

The Department of Sports, in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, the Athletics Club El Cano and the Athletics Club Cartagena, coordinated a device composed of technicians of the Department of Sports, athletics judges, volunteers TAFAD IES Mediterranean and buses for the displacement of participants and teachers.

The delivery of trophies was chaired by the Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Gómez Bernal.

In the tournament 10x10 meters races, soft javelin throw, jumps together, medical ball throw, obstacle side jump, 5x2 and 5x1 relays and grand prix were played.

The classifications were:

2nd CP Azorín

3rd CES Holy Family

4th CP San Cristóbal

MALE

1st CP Virgen de Begoña

2nd Holy Family

3rd Leonardo da Vinci

4th Luis Calandre

The first two classified schools will represent Cartagena in the Regional Final to be held on February 21 in San Pedro del Pinatar.

This same event but in the youngest category will take place on Thursday, February 8 at the Municipal Sports Pavilion.
