The Municipal Group MC Cartagena will request in the Plenary session that the Youth Council includes in its budget for the year 2018 a game destined to subsidize the UPCT Racing Team project in a nominative way and also sign a collaboration agreement with this association for the promotion of Culture and innovation in the municipality.
In this way, through the motion that will be presented by the councilor and Sports Manager of MC Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, the training Cartagena will try to give continuity to one of the initiatives that the Youth Department had in portfolio under the direction of Segado.
Specifically, as explained by the mayor, "is to increase support and support for a project that emerged in 2008 and keeps immersed in the world of technology and innovation to thirty students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) ".
Municipal support to the University
In this sense, Ricardo Segado recalled that "the City Council has the duty to help the University to promote their projects and we started doing it during the last two years, paying part of the expenses that this team has".
Similarly, he noted that for the 2018 budget, MC Cartagena proposed to allocate a nominal grant of six thousand euros for this purpose, "in addition to signing a collaboration agreement that includes this commitment of economic aid with the association to promote the knowledge and the dissemination of technology and engineering that is being developed in the city ".
Similarly, Segado pointed out that with this type of initiative "we managed to increase the synergies between the City Council and the UPCT, thus helping a team that needs its city to continue carrying out its goals and concerns with success and greater relief".
UPCT Project Racing Team
Made up of a team of young university students, the UPCT Racing Team combines its knowledge and learning in the world of electrical and mechanical engineering with the world of associations, sports and competition.
With all these ingredients, they create prototypes of race vehicles with the aim of participating, every year, in the event created for this purpose, the 'Formula Student', in which universities from all over the world participate and in which to date They have managed to create three competition prototypes.
All this under the important umbrella and impulse of the public University of Cartagena, "institution that has always shown to bet on the potential of its students and innovation," stressed the councilor of MC.
