One company will hire half of the students in a SEF course on marine engines in Cartagena (25/01/2018)

Twelve unemployed will participate, of which at least five will join the company Mecánicas Bolea, although this proportion tends to increase in this type of specific courses

The Ministry of Employment, Universities and Enterprise has programmed through the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) a course with commitment to recruit in Cartagena, aimed at unemployed, and after which 40 percent of participants will agree to a contract of work in the company of the metallurgical sector Mecánicas Bolea.

Today was the day of presentation of the course, although the selection phase is still open.

It is a course of maintenance of equipment and mechanical elements of marine engines that will train 12 people over 580 hours, of which 120 will correspond to the practical phase.

Of the total number of students, at least five will be hired for a period of six months that may be extended, although in this type of initiatives that minimum percentage tends to increase, and companies decide to incorporate more than half of the trained staff.

Those interested can go to the office of the SEF of Cartagena or directly to the entity that will provide the training, Senda Gestión.

As a requirement, it is necessary that they are registered as unemployed and specialization in the branch of Mechanics is also valued.

Thanks to this training, participants will learn to manipulate engines of great power and size, both marine and industrial applications.

They will also receive notions about how to detect their faults and proceed with the repair, adjustments and assembly of these engines and their auxiliary equipment.

The general director of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, encouraged the unemployed to "inform themselves and value this initiative, because it not only represents a quality training opportunity, but it also has the possibility of having a job opportunity in a company of the maximum prestige".

Profiles difficult to find

This course is one of the five with a commitment to contract that the Ministry will launch in the first half of this year, thanks to a grant of 171,000 euros for training entities.

In addition to Mechanics Bolea, companies such as Crown Food and Adecco have committed to incorporate a percentage of students who round 50 percent in courses of this type.

This training allows companies to obtain specific profiles that are difficult to find in the labor market.

In other words, these are tailor-made courses, adapted to the specific training requirements they seek in their respective professional fields, and for which they do not always find sufficiently qualified candidates.

Zamora stressed that "the fact that training is free for companies increases their interest in obtaining workers who, after the course, will be familiar with the work activity to develop. For our part, the interest is clear: that people who lack employment, complete a quality training and access a job that can consolidate them in the company ".
