The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has received this afternoon the representatives of the Association of People Affected by Public Services of Cartagena (Asepucar), who has explained the reasons why you can not cancel the extension of the concessionaire's contract of the water.

The first mayor has exposed the members of Asepucar that, according to legal information in their possession, the extension was not null but voidable, although the deadline to do so has prescribed.

Castejón has explained that, if finally there is a final sentence that links the criminal acts that are judged with the extension, in reference to the Pokemon case that is currently processed in Lugo, there will be grounds to declare it null, something that will be done immediately .

The mayor has offered the representatives of Asepucar their integration in the commission to monitor the water contract, and they have accepted.

RESPONSE TO THE RESOURCE OF THE NEIGHBORS

With regard to the appeal filed by a group of neighbors in 2004 against the extension, not for Asepucar, the mayor has said that no one has responded to it, neither the PP when it governed, nor the previous mayor of MC;

José López, although the current government will answer.

"We have only been in the Mayor's office for six months and it is incredible how the cases have been reactivated.

In fact, even the party of MC, which did not respond to itself when he held the mayor's office, the department responsible for the contracting service and the infrastructure, now requires me what they were not able to do, "said Castejón .

The mayor recalled that it has a legal report that supports the impossibility of canceling the extension and another of the City Council's economic services that indicate that in the event of doing so, it would cost twenty million euros to the municipal coffers.

In this sense, the mayor explained to the members of Asepucar that she will not be the irresponsible one that condemns the City Council and the residents of Cartagena to pay twenty million euros to the concessionaire of the supply service.
