21 days before Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the Holy Week processions in Cartagena with the traditional Call, the Board of Confraternities will meet on Wednesday, January 24, to elect the Nazarene Mayor, who will recognize the a prominent figure of women processionists.
The election will be communicated to the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, at 8:30 p.m. at the Consistorial Palace.
The mayor will then be responsible for announcing in turn to the chosen and seek acceptance.
The Nazarene Mayor will be together with the Town Crier, elected last December, Ángel Julio Huertas, the two outstanding figures of the Procession Proclamation that this year will be held again in due time, at the beginning of Lent.
It will be on Saturday, February 17, at 8:00 pm, in the Isidoro Máiquez Hall of the Municipal Auditorium of El Batel.
