The City of Cartagena has signed on Tuesday January 23 an agreement with the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Region of Murcia to provide psychological support to children victims of gender violence, an act that has taken place in the Palace of Aguirre .
Thanks to this agreement, explained the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, an itinerant service will be offered in the city, so that those affected can go to it on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
From the City Council, informed the mayor, will be provided for this purpose a physical location and all materials deemed appropriate, such as phones or computers.
Also, Castejón highlighted the involvement of the Consistory on gender violence and insisted on the important role of the City Council in dealing with "the administration closest to the citizen."
Finally, Ana Belén Castejón addressed the leaders of the central government to ask that they continue to "advance in a consensus agreed with all political forces as well as at the regional level so that municipalities continue to be provided with tools and budget to to be able to give that service where we can have the best possible assistance. "
In 2017, 31 minors were victims of gender violence in Cartagena, according to the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás.
In addition, the counselor has announced that, from the regional government, is working "with the rest of political forces in the Regional Assembly in a regional pact against gender violence will shortly be released."
