The Association of Relatives and Friends of People with Alzheimer's, Afal Cartagena and Comarca, has opened the registration period for the course 'Basic care for elderly people at home' that will begin this week in the municipalities of Cartagena, San Javier, Fuente Álamo, La Unión, Mazarrón and Torre Pacheco
The call arises from the agreements signed with the local councils of these localities for the improvement of the services offered to Alzheimer's patients.
The course is aimed at both internal and external caregivers who are interested in expanding knowledge on technical aids to keep the patient active, feeding and hearing, pharmacology, sexuality in Alzheimer's, conflict resolution techniques and body care among other topics.
About thirty people can benefit from the free course that ends in April and will be taught by a social worker, physiotherapist, psychologist, nurse, speech therapist and occupational therapist.
From January 23 to February 9, the second edition of the course will take place in Cartagena at the Isidoriana University Foundation, in San Javier at the Prince of Asturias Civic Center and at Fuente Alamo in the Agrarian Chamber.
