Perfecting Spanish and getting to know Cartagena is what 30 French students of 16 years are doing during these days.
The children arrived from an institute in Paris, district 19, within the program managed by the Cartagena Foundation for the Teaching of the Spanish Language and Culture (Funcarele), which encourages perfecting the language in the country of origin.
The councilman of Culture, David Martinez has welcomed them on the campus of the CIM, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), this Monday, January 22.
The mayor has expressed the importance of these visits because "not only will they perfect the language but they will soak up our culture, our cuisine, our way of being".
Martínez explained the importance of these student exchanges since it is a good way to make the city known through them.
"Educational tourism is also very important because maybe they return here to study, or return with their families to visit, these students will be ambassadors of Cartagena."
The students are very satisfied with the experience, especially enjoying the city and its good weather.
From Cartagena what has surprised them the most is that, despite its small size, it has a wide cultural and tourist offer.
Students will be living with families of the municipality of Cartagena, for a week, to perfect the language, being in a Spanish-speaking environment for 24 hours a day.
This trip is part of the pedagogical project of the neighboring country where students receive Spanish as a second language classes, and as part of that project must travel to Spain to improve the language.
