The House of Folklore was filled last Friday 19 and Saturday 20 February to attend the semifinals of the fifth edition of the National Saetas Contest of Cartagena.
Cantaores from different corners of the Spanish geography delighted the audience with their performances loaded with passion and a lot of technique.
The contest is organized by the Agrupación de Portapasos de la Santisima de la Piedad.
On Friday, in the first semifinal, which was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Education and Youth, David Martinez, Francisco Campos Esteban (Cartagena), Rocío Belén Cuesta (Huelva), Jesús León Márquez (Mairena de Alcor, Seville), Leonor María Moreno (Sevilla) and Manuela Pérez (Huelva).
And on Saturday it was Manuel Cuevas, son (Osuna, Sevilla), José Antonio Cuevas (Osuna, Sevilla), Marta Sevillano (Cádiz), Rosi Campos (Málaga), Miriam Cantero (Cáceres) and María José Flores (Sevilla).
The selected, whose names will be announced by the jury later, will go to the final, which will take place on March 10 in the Church of Santa Maria de Gracia, where the winner of this edition of the contest will be decided.
The previous editions were for the cantaores Juan Fariña, from Huelva, who won in 2014;
Miguel Ángel Lara Solano 'El Canario', from El Saucejo (Seville), in 2015;
Ana García Caro, from Huelva, in 2016, and Juanito Berrocal, in 2017.
The Contest is organized in collaboration with the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno (Marrajos), to which it belongs, and the collaboration of the City of Cartagena, the Ministry of Culture of the Region of Murcia, the Catholic University Santa Antonio UCAM, the Group Folkloric 'City of Cartagena' of La Palma, the Our Father Jesús Nazareno Grouping, the Grouping of the Stma.
