A new popular race joins the sports calendar of the municipality of Cartagena, it is the First Carrera Virgen del Mar de Cabo de Palos.
The race will be held this Sunday, January 21, and in its absolute test will travel just over 7 kilometers from the coast of La Manga and Cabo de Palos.
The test was presented this Thursday, January 18, before the media by the councilor of the Area of ​​Quality of Life and Welfare, Consumption, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Fisheries and Sports, Obdulia Gómez, the lieutenant of mayor of the municipality of San Javier, Carlos Albaladejo, the president of the association Virgen del Mar Women, Isabel Belmonte and the representative of the Athletics Club of La Manga, Norberto Martín.
The Popular Race Virgin of the Sea of ​​Cabo de Palos has four categories: the Absolute of a distance of 7,190 meters, the Benjamin of 300 meters and the Alevín and Infantile of 1,000 meters.
All the tests have the collaboration of the city of Cartagena, through the Department of Sports, as explained by the mayor Obdulia Gómez, "the City has been overturned with all the material means of infrastructure, sports technician and the collaboration of the Police Local, which will ensure the safety of the test, together with the control of the event with the medical service of the Department ".
The Absolute Test will start at the Entremares de La Manga Hotel.
The runners will leave at 10:00 hours along the Gran Vía avenue of La Manga, Almoraderas street, Paseo de La Barra, esplanade in front of the Miramar, Los Palangres street, Acantilado promenade, Punta Elena street, Faro, Paseo de Levante promenade, Punta Galera street, Subida al Faro street, Almoraderas street, Maestral street, Gran Vía avenue of La Manga, to finish again at the Entremares Hotel.
The registration fee is 10 euros and for federated athletes 2 euros.
The Benjamín Test will be held on the esplanade of the Hotel Entremares, with departure and arrival at the same point, covering a distance of 300 meters.
The departure will take place at 11:30 am and those born in 2009 and later can register.
The registration fee is 5 euros.
The Alevín and Infantile Tests will also be held in the esplanade of the Hotel Entremares, with departure and arrival at the same point, in this case with a journey of 1,500 meters.
The departure will take place at 12:00 hours and those born in 2007 and 2008 (Alevín), and 2005 and 2006 (Infant) can be registered.
The registration fee is 5 euros.
The race has been organized by the association Virgen del Mar Women, which will use the economic benefit obtained from the inscriptions to improve the facilities of the association and with them, to cover the integration of women and young people in the region.
In addition to donating a check to buy food for families in need that will distribute the church of La Manga.
The test is limited to a maximum participation of 2,000 runners.
The last day of registration deadline is Thursday, January 18, at 9:00 pm on the web www.famu.es, establishing the online system as the only means of payment.
The test is a commitment to decentralize sporting events in order to unite sport, tourism and solidarity.
