Today Thursday January 18, has been presented at the Palace Hall the programming for the Carnival of Cartagena 2018, which will take place between 2 and 13 February.
In the presentation have been present the councilman of the Area of ​​Public Services, Citizen Participation and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba;
the president of the Carnival, Carmen Sánchez;
and the Vice President of Carnival, Eduardo Pignatelli.
Both the councilor and the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, who has also been present at the end of this event, corroborated the support of the Cartagena City Council for Carnival and showed their commitment so that this celebration could become a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
THE PROGRAMING
To start these Carnival festivities, the Wssell Central Sports Pavilion in Guimbarda will host the Queen's Children's Gala on 21st February at 9:00 p.m.
Six candidates are presented to this contest.
The entrance of this event is two euros.
As a novelty, this year will also attend the gala Don Carnal and Dońa Cuaresma infantil.
On Saturday, February 3, in this same space will take place the Grand Carnival Gala in which the Proclamation will be given, which will be presented by Kiko Hernández, of the television program Sálvame, and Sandra Bruman.
In this event the Queen of the Carnival of this year will also be chosen, to which nine candidates are presented.
The act will be at 9:00 pm and will cost three euros.
On Sunday, February 4, the Baile del Vermut will take place at Plaza de San Francisco at 12:30.
The Regional Competition for Children and Adult Choreography will be in the afternoon.
The entrance fee for these two events is three euros.
The children's category will compete at 18:00 hours and the adult will be at 21:00 hours.
Tickets for the Adult Choreography Contest are sold out.
The Drag-Queens National Gala will also be held at the Wssell Central Sports Pavilion on Monday, February 5 at 9:00 p.m.
12 drag-queens from inside and outside Cartagena will participate in this great event.
The entrance fee for this show will be 5 euros and can be purchased, as for the rest of the events in this pavilion, at El Corte Inglés de Cartagena.
On Tuesday, February 6, the parade of dance groups will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the historic center of the city.
In addition, the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center will play the lyrical tenor Jesús Hernández.
Admission to this event is free until full capacity is reached.
On February 7 there will again be a parade at 7:00 p.m. in the center of the city.
For its part, the El Batel Auditorium also hosts the first semifinal of the XIV Chirigotas Regional Contest 'Ciudad de Cartagena' at 9:00 p.m.
The chirigotas that participate are: those of February, Chirogota of Soto, Chirigota of Caravaca, Chiriwoman, Chirigota de Cabezo de Torres, the Robinsones of the Island and the Singuangos.
The entrance fee will be 9 euros.
On Thursday, February 8, the second semifinal of the XIV Regional Competition of Chirigotas 'Ciudad de Cartagena' will take place at 9:00 p.m.
The chirigotas will perform: Los K Somos, Chirigota de Gador, Los Picoesquina, Los Sangochaos, Las que faltaban and Chirigota de Roquetas.
This event will also cost 9 euros.
On Friday, February 9, more than 3,500 children will participate in the Parade School at 11:00 am, leaving from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
This parade will tour the main streets of the city and will end at the Plaza de Juan XXIII.
On the same day, the first and second final pass of the XIV Regional Contest of Chirigotas 'Ciudad de Cartagena' will take place at 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., respectively.
The cost of these tickets will be 10, 11 or 12 euros.
All the anticipated tickets for the events scheduled at El Batel can be purchased at the Teatro Circo, at the El Batel Auditorium or on the internet.
In addition, this year you can buy a bonus of 12 euros to attend the two semifinals on 7 and 8 February.
On Saturday, February 10, the big day of Carnival arrives with the performance of chirigotas in the street from 12:00 hours.
The traditional parade of Caranval will kick off from the Alameda de San Antón at 6:00 p.m.
In this great parade will participate 90 groups and more than 5,000 people.
These groups include 15 children's groups and 14 from outside the municipality.
After the parade there will be live music in the Plaza de San Francisco from 10pm.
The sport will take center stage on Sunday, February 11, with a Master Class of Zumba and V-Stile in the Plaza de Juan XXIII, in charge of the Viva Gym.
The event will start at 11:00 hours.
At noon, also in this square there will be a show for the little ones and a contest of children's costumes.
On Monday, February 12, the streets of Cartagena will once again host the great Carnival parade, departing at 6:00 p.m.
In the Plaza Juan XXIII the choreography groups for children and adults will act for all passers-by.
Finally, on Tuesday, February 13, the Don Carnal parade will take place at 8:00 p.m.
Later, at 22:00 hours will be the presentation of prizes and farewell of Don Carnal in the Central Sports Pavilion Wssell de Guimbarda.
In addition, from January 29 to February 13 the City of Cartagena will host the Carnival Anthological Exhibition in the building of San Miguel Street.
Visitors can see carnival costumes from previous years.
