The San Antón district celebrated its traditional day in honor of the animals, in which the "Diana Floreada" took place at the beginning, followed by the solemn mass officiated by the Vicar of the Diocese of Cartagena.
Subsequently, the blessing of the animals was carried out and, finally, the great vermouth dance took place, where the homage to the commonly known as Pepe "El Pilas" was carried out.
After the mass, after the blessings to the companion animals and the delivery of prizes to the best horses and carriages, neighbors of the neighborhood of San Antón, have paraded in procession to El Casino, where the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón has enunciated some words in honor of the former secretary of the neighborhood association, José Marín.
The councilor stressed that Marín was "a great man who gave his life and gave himself body and soul for the neighborhood of San Antón", while he recalled that his struggle was always "to achieve the prosperity of this neighborhood", that according to Castejón "is a pending issue of the government and I hope we are up to it," he said.
The wife of José Marín, Juani Martínez, thanked the tribute tribute that the neighbors have made to her husband before the great vermouth dance.
Martinez has stated that Marín "had for everyone," since he went to the association to "do some registration papers, to help a neighbor to make the declaration of the Treasury, or asked for food where necessary to help a neighbor I was having a bad time. "
Previously the delivery of the trophies to the best horses and carriages has taken place in the Plaza de la Iglesia, after which it has proceeded to the blessing of the neighbors' pets, where they have been able to see dogs and cats dressed for the occasion and other companion animals such as rabbits, rodents and a bearded dragon.
