The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, will take a proposal to the next municipal plenary session to begin the file of Regional Tourist Interest Parties for Pelotas Galileas.
"What almost five decades ago spontaneously originated as a symbol of local identity and the democratization of fiestas, has now become a way to entertain visitors and make them warm with a comforting broth with picadillo balls;
in an unmissable event in which all the people participate and prepare with care the more than 10,000 meatballs that will then be offered to the audience, "said the first mayor.
In all this time, the fame and goodness of this tasting has transcended beyond the municipal and regional boundaries, constituting today a benchmark and an attraction for tourists and inhabitants of the rest of the Region, who have had knowledge of the galileas balls through the numerous chronicles with which the regional media have echoed this event and word of mouth from those who have become faithful followers of this event.
Castejón recalled that this event "extols cultural and traditional values and that fraternizes with the current diversity and multiculturalism of Pozo Estrecho, being its neighborhood association, one of the oldest and most active in the municipality, the main bulwark of its organization and continuity".
Undoubtedly Pelotas Galileas are presented as a unique celebration, not only for its peculiar name, but also for the recipe for its preparation based on minced meat and the tasty broth that accompanies them, which deserve special recognition.
The mayor has come this afternoon to Pozo Estrecho to participate in the tasting, accompanied by other councilors of the municipal government and the rest of the Corporation.
There was also the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, and the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, among other regional authorities.
