The Local Police of Cartagena will carry out, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, a campaign to monitor and control vehicle conditions throughout the municipality of Cartagena from January 15 to 21.
Through this campaign, the Local Police will control technical aspects of the vehicle such as the depth of the wheels, lighting, signaling, license plates and documentation.
The controls will be carried out in various parts of the city, as well as in neighborhoods and councils.
According to data provided by this security body, the average age of the car park has increased by 4.2 years in the 2007-2016 period, which also means a greater risk for road safety.
Accidents that occur with vehicles from 10 to 15 years old, multiply by two the risk of dying or being serious in relation to vehicles under 5 years.
An adequate maintenance and tuning of the main safety elements of the vehicle such as tires, brakes, lights and signaling, warn from the Local Police, is essential to combat the accident rate.
