The program "Reading, thinking and imagining" begins tomorrow in its first quarter of the year with a program focused on social issues, such as gender equality, cultural diversity or the drama of refugees.
All the activities will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center and are organized thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Education, Culture and Youth, represented by David Martínez Noguera, together with the FICC, the municipal libraries, the Councilors of Equality and Social Services, and the Participation Area, the Cartagena Piensa program, UPCT and UMU universities, the Historical Memory Association of Cartagena, the Transition Network, the Circle of Silence, and the IV Conference "An Education for the XXI Century".
This quarter will consist of a total of 23 activities: seven films, six book presentations, two concerts, a theatrical proposal, six lectures and two workshops.
The Luzzy will host during these three months proposals for all audiences and free access.
Some of the prominent characters that will have their appearance in this new programming are, as explained the councilman, David Martinez, the poet Eloy Sánchez Rosillo, which will present his "Complete Poetry", the journalist Nicolás Castellano, the journalist and writer Nuria Varela , the filmmaker Esther Pérez de Eulate, the poet Ana Alonso or the writer and journalist Lucía Lijtmaer.
Also the late writer Miguel Espinosa will have a gap in this complete program through the recent publication of his "Letters to Mercedes", which will be presented on January 23.
CINEMA AND MUSIC
The cinema will also have a fundamental role in 'Reading, thinking and imagining'.
The seven films of this quarter will be screened in El Luzzy in the original version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE), at 8:00 p.m.
The selection of films, explained the director of the FICC and responsible for the programming of the FICCMOTECA del Luzzy, Esther Baeza, "are titles that did not premiere in Cartagena or that went unnoticed" despite being great cinematographic proposals.
Among them, highlights the Israeli "Family Affairs", which opens tomorrow, January 12;
the winner of the Palme d'Or for Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival "The Square" on January 26;
or on February 9, the film "Dheepan", which reflects the refugee's difficult adaptation to a world that seems hostile and strange.
In honor of Women's Day, on March 9 will be screened "The fantastic woman" by Chilean Sebastian Lelio.
In addition to film and literature, 'Leer, Pensar e Imaginar' also has a special space for local music led by José Antonio Aarnoutse from Cartagena, who will present his debut solo album "El arte del encuentro" on January 19, and the band Mood Swing on March 2, which fuses rhythms such as blues, swing or rock.
In addition to presenting this program, the councilor of the Area of ​​Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez Noguera, was satisfied and excited about the questions of the press for their new competences of Youth and Archaeological Heritage.
