The year 2018 premiered for the national badminton with the Young Masters of Cartagena.
This event, organized in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, met at the Palace of Sports of Cartagena to more than a hundred players from eight autonomous communities on 3 and 4 January.
This tournament has reached high levels of quality thanks to the great deployment of media with the full streaming transmission of the eight tracks on the LaLiga4Sport channel thanks to Noa Broadcast.
The tournament left Maria de la O Pérez and Ana Ramírez as the main winners with two 'Roman Theaters' of gold each.
In the under-15 category, the women's victory was for María de la O Pérez (CB Rute) who defeated Abril Ramón (Es Vedrá) in the final with a 21-17 21-12.
In addition, María de la O Pérez won, along with her partner Carla Moyano (Arjonilla), in the women's doubles to the players Nikol Carulla and Elena Paya (Alicante / El Campello) with a score of 21-19 21-15.
The victory in the mixed doubles was for Carlos Iglesias and Rio Abril (Es Vedrá) who managed to defeat in three hard sets the Madrid Alejandro Baschwitz and Lucia Escribano (Torrejón / Fuenlabrada) with a result of 12-21 21-19 21-14 .
The men's doubles final ended with a victory for the Andalusians Guillermo Figueras and Álvaro Rumín (Arjonilla) against Daniel Franco and Rubén García (Granada) by 21-17 21-14.
Finally, in the men's individual Rubén García (Granada) took off the spine of the doubles after winning the tournament with a victory against Oriol Altimira (Granollers) by 21-16 21-10.
SUB-19
On the other hand, the sub-19 category won Ana Ramírez (Alicante), after defeating Clara Campos (Albacete) in the women's individual by an evenly 16-21 21-18 22-20.
In the mixed doubles, with his partner Albert Perals (Alicante), they were also the winners against Salvador Franco and Candela Arcos (Granada) by 21-9 21-15.
In the women's doubles, Elena Oncina and Julia Oncina (El Campello) won all their matches until they won the title.
In the men's doubles the pair of Fran Olivares and Carlos Sánchez (Ibi / Alicante) won in the final to Sergio Cardador and Joaquín Reina (Montilla / Almeria) by 21-16 21-11.
Finally, the men's individual traveled to the Balearic Islands with Marc Cardona (Portmany) who defeated in the final after three tight sets to Fran Olivares (Ibi) by 21-13 17-21 23-21.
SEVEN CARTAGENEROS PLAYERS
On the part of the Cartagena club it is possible to indicate the participation of seven players, Antonio Timón in sub 19 category, and the rest in the Sub 15 category, Alejandro Extremera, Nikita Nikitin, Marco Escusa, Iker Padilla, Aitana Romero and Lilia Nikitina, with a meritorious pass to the final phase of Nikita and Lilia in mixed doubles that reached the quarterfinals.
In the delivery they were present Alonso Gómez López, general director of sports of the Region of Murcia;
Ricardo Segado, councilor for Youth and Sports;
Pedro Caparrós, member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Federation of Badminton and president of the Federation of Badminton of Murcia;
and José María Fernández-Caro, president of the Cartagena Badminton Club.
All of them were delivering the different trophies: a miniature bathed in bronze and gold of one of the insignia of the city, the Roman Theater of Cartagena.
