Hundreds of pilgrims returned one more year, to process the Virgin of the Light in procession.
The Romería del Cañar toured the natural landscape of the Sierra de la Muela this Sunday, January 7, to pay homage to the mother of God in the middle of the river bed.
The day was organized by the FAVCAC, and the City of Cartagena collaborated with it, through its Department of Celebrations.
Along with the pilgrims were the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the mayor of Culture, David Martínez;
the Citizen Security, Francisco Aznar;
Social Affairs, Carmen Martín;
and the Councilor of Government, José López.
The day began at 8:30 am with a Mass at Tallante church.
At 9:00 a.m. took place in a hot chocolate with buns to gather strength to face the morning of pilgrimage that left from Tallante at 9:20 hours to Rincon de Sumiedo.
At this stop the cuadrilla sang songs and candy and sweet wine were distributed to the audience.
At about 10:45 am the pilgrims will leave for Cañar, and will arrive with La Virgen de La Luz at 12:00 noon, to offer a Mass.
In the same spot of the Cañar the cuadrillas returned to act and they offered their Patron a Salve in the plaza of the Church of Tallante.
Throughout the festive day they could enjoy crumbs and sausages from the land, as well as a snack around 5:30 p.m.
The Romería del Cañar also had the collaboration of ALSA, LHICARSA, HIDROGEA, the Neighborhood Meetings of Isla Plana and Perín, together with the Neighborhood Associations of Tallante, Perín, Isla Plana and Rincón de Sumiedo.
In addition, this year also participated the Cultural Association Modernists of Cartagena de Levante and sponsor the first contest of free crumbs, with the delivery of a ham to the first prize.
