Open extension of street vendor licenses in street markets (02/01/2018)

The holders of street vendors of the markets of the municipality of Cartagena who wish to extend their license may submit their application until February 28, 2018. These authorizations are necessary for both the annual and summer sales positions.

To apply for these licenses, the interested parties must meet a series of requirements and complete a Responsible Declaration Model.

To apply for this license, those interested must be registered in the Social Security, as well as in the corresponding section of the Tax on Economic Activities.

Payments to the state or municipal public treasury must also be accredited to qualify for this license.

The holders of the food stall, in addition, must prove their training in food handling.

In the case of merchants from non-EU foreign countries, they will have to be in possession of the corresponding permits or authorizations required by the regulations on foreigners.

The municipality of Cartagena has 18 weekly markets, which are occupied by approximately 650 street vendors.

The City Council is responsible for managing the 1,629 licenses of positions that are processed annually.

In addition, there are a number of seasonal markets, such as the Plaza del Rey at Easter, the Plaza Bohemia in summer or the street San Miguel at Christmas and Kings who also have to process your license.

Its installation is determined by the temporality of festivities and the products sold in these stalls are, basically, handicrafts and jewelery.

The authorizations for the traditional trolleys with nuts, candies or toys that run through the streets during Holy Week processions, or the chocolate and churros stalls, are licenses that are punctually granted during festivities such as Holy Week, Christmas or Carnival.

These licenses are personal and non-transferable and commit the person responsible for the business to maintain the sales position in good hygienic-sanitary conditions, as well as to keep the place clean once they are dismantled.
