The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena today regretted that the Local Safety Board has met so late and not before Christmas Eve as it would be desirable and as has been done in previous years.
According to the orange training, thousands of Cartagena residents concentrated on the streets as usual to celebrate Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and that required the prior convocation of this meeting to publicize the security and coordination device to guarantee the normal development of the parties and avoid incidents.

"We have proven that the vast majority of Spanish municipalities have convened their security meetings between December 10 and December 22, as is logical and normal," added Padin.
Manuel Padín recalled that last year the Local Safety Board met on December 22, "in 2016 they called it in a timely manner, so we do not understand what could have happened so that they did not do it in 2017; it does not matter that they have been overcome by the convulsive political situation that this Government is experiencing, there are urgent and top priority issues that can not be delayed ".
VioGén System
On the other hand, the local spokesman of Citizens celebrates that in the Local Safety Board of today work continues to execute the motion registered by the orange formation on August 16 for adherence to the protocol of collaboration and coordination between forces and bodies of State Security and the Local Police of Cartagena for the protection of victims of gender violence.
The Citizens proposal urged the City Council to carry out the necessary procedures for the Local Police to be included in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in Cases of Gender Violence (Sistema VioGén).
The incorporation to this system is necessary to activate this coordination protocol that emanates from a 2006 agreement between the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the Ministry of the Interior.
"I hope that in a constant and progressive way all the town councils of the Community will join the system as this will improve and complete the creation of a regional risk map, a network for the rapid and comprehensive follow-up and protection of women. abused, and their sons and daughters, in any part of the national territory, "said Padín.
