The Local Government Board of the City of Cartagena has given Friday its approval to the proposal made by the councilor of the Area of Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, to establish the Chair of Quality of Life and Environment in which it once again stands out the close relationship between the Consistory and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
This initiative will focus on promoting a line of work linked to climate change, always taking into account the limitations of the City Council.
In this sense, the municipal participation in the LIFE Project as an instrument to serve the Environment stands out.
In addition, a soil regeneration line is included, which will allow working in Hondon lands and thus respond to citizen demands.
DECONTAMINATION OF EL HONDÓN
The Quality of Life Area has highlighted the importance of the conclusions that result from this academic activity, which will serve as the basis for the required studies that constitute the previous step to the writing and design of the final project of the El Hondón land.
Finally, it is expected that during the next year the focus of the Chair will be on the incidence of climate change in our environment, and in a more concrete way, on issues that underlie these circumstances such as the problems derived from agriculture, such as the drought or the reality of the Mar Menor.
