The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will host next spring the Technology Fair for Local Telecommunications Operators AOTEC 2018. The XII edition will be focused on high capacity networks and the future of 5G.
The AOTEC Fair brings together the main technical innovations in telecommunications every year.
It is a benchmark event in this sector at the national level and the last edition exceeded 2,300 visitors.
This event generates a turnover of between 15 and 20 million euros.
"AOTEC was born in the Region of Murcia and today has 150 associated companies.The first edition of the fair was in Cartagena and twelve years later we return to the city for the magnificent facilities of the UPCT", explained the president of the association , Antonio García Vidal.
The UPCT and AOTEC signed a collaboration agreement in October on matters of training and promotion of innovation.
"The relationship with companies is fundamental for our University," recalled the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz.
Visitors to the fair will be able to see the technological advances in terms of creation and network management teams, such as the latest proposals on television channels;
the new models of mobile telephony provided by various companies, as well as all types of business services aimed at meeting the needs of the sector.
Another of the main attractions of the Fair is its series of technical conferences, which have been consolidated as a forum for information and debate on the regulation of the sector and on the future evolution of fixed and mobile networks.
The event will be held on May 31 and June 1 and will occupy more than 2,000 square meters of the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT.
In the last edition the visitors had the opportunity to know the activity of 74 companies located in 115 stands.
In this edition, students of the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering of the UPCT will have the opportunity to register and approach the reality of the sector.
The UPCT and the AOTEC association maintain a close relationship oriented to the promotion of R & D & I in the sector and the promotion of student internships in their associated companies.
Among the most immediate projects is the creation of a business classroom in the School of Telecommunications.
This space is aimed at promoting activities related to the training and hiring of undergraduate and master students.
Local operators have a specific importance in the Region of Murcia, given that they serve all of the 45 municipalities and are present in the 12 counties of the Autonomous Community.
AOTEC represents a sector that is estimated at some 1,100 SMEs in the country, who in 2015 moved some 600 million euros and generated some 7,600 direct jobs.
The Fair has been presented this Friday at the UPCT.
