The first deputy mayor and councilor of the Culture and Heritage area, Ricardo Segado, showed the Victoria Cave this morning to artists and graffiti artists.
It is about the same urban artists that participate in the project of promotion of this archaeological site promoted by the councils of Youth and Archaeological Heritage.
The objective of this initiative is to disseminate and raise awareness of the heritage of the Beal district through a series of eight artistic murals "of the highest quality", which will be, according to the mayor, "a point of inflection for the town and the site".
During the visit, the councilor and the artists have been accompanied by the municipal coordinators of Historical and Archaeological Heritage and Youth, Mari Carmen Berrocal and María del Mar Sánchez, respectively, as well as the speleologist and expert in Cueva Victoria, Andrés Ros.
Segado has ensured that Cueva Victoria "must become, and for that we work, in a tourist reference and research worldwide," since it is a paleontological site that will help and be determinant to understand, for example, the fauna of the Pleistocene or climate change.
"We are talking about more than one hundred species whose fossil remains are being found thanks to continuous research campaigns", he pointed out.
In this sense, the municipal head of Archaeological Heritage has reaffirmed that it is "a real discovery that undoubtedly, once put into value, will be a fundamental element for the future of Cartagena."
On the other hand, Ricardo Segado has indicated that this campaign, materialized through the Urban CT program, "is a crucial step to understand Cueva Victoria, bring it closer to Llano del Beal and continue shortly with the Master Plan and the musealization project".
Specifically, the project consists of the realization of a series of artistic murals (Art Street) with motifs related to the nearby archaeological site of Cueva Victoria and its contents have been coordinated especially from the area of Culture and Heritage.
In its execution twelve artists of recognized prestige participate: Kraser, Teño, Kenu, Camol, P Solver, Kame, Goyo 203, Willy, Jesus Llorente, Raúl Stal and Zab.
In total, eight works are being undertaken in different locations, very visible in the towns of the area, such as the bridge located at the entrance of El Llano, as well as other areas chosen in collaboration with neighbors, covering a total of 400 m2 with landscapes and fauna that inhabited this area more than 800,000 years ago.
The performances began on December 2 and will end on Saturday the 16th with a concert by the Bhusestán group, showing the public in general with a surprising realism the faunal wealth during the Pleistocene period, hence the use of the slogan: 'Cueva Victoria, la jewel of the Pleistocene.
