The Government delegate, Francisco Bernabé, attended this morning at the beginning of the remodeling works of the urban environment of the existing road between the Sanson Crane and the La Curra Muelle, whose investment, provided by the Government of Spain through the Authority Port, amounts to one million euros.
"The Government of Spain is still committed to the city of Cartagena and its development, with facts, and not just words," said the delegate, who underlined the double benefit of the execution of these works.
"It means, on the one hand, to continue advancing in the integration between the urban area of ​​Cartagena and the port area, and on the other, the fact that the infrastructures that are going to be undertaken will be a very important support for the development of the tourist activity in terms of cruise traffic, as it will benefit the landing of tourists in La Curra when necessary, "he said.
He also stressed the benefit that will be for the citizens of Cartagena to the conditioning of the area, which entails, among other actions, the expansion of sidewalks and decrease of architectural barriers, the renewal of public lighting and the creation of an area sporty with a bike / running lane.
These works will give continuity to those that have already been carried out in another section of the road, from the headquarters of the Fishermen's Association to the roundabout, and from the La Curra dock to Cala Cortina and those made in the vicinity of the neighborhood. Santa Lucia to give it a more urban and less port character in the section of the service road of the port that goes from the Plaza de la Isla to the Crane Sanson.
