The Association of Relatives and Friends of Alzheimer Patients of Cartagena and Region, Afal, has received a grant of 9,600 euros from the City of Cartagena for the execution of the program "non-pharmacological treatment and technical aids for patients with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias neurodegenerative ".
The agreement signed between the mayor Ana Belén Castejón and the president of Afal Cartagena y Comarca, María José Regueiro is valid for one year, which also includes the acquisition of computer and health equipment, workshops for cognitive estimation and physiotherapeutic treatments.
The agreement arises from the collaboration that Afal has maintained for more than ten years with the Department of Social Services and Social Mediation of the City of Cartagena to improve the quality of life of citizens through specific programs aimed at Alzheimer's patients and other dementias neurodegenerative
For the manager of Afal, Raúl Nieto, this financial aid is "ten percent of the financing needed by the NGO to maintain the current services offered in Cartagena"
Yesterday the grants were given to the different entities, an event that was chaired by the mayor Ana Belén Castejón, the councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, representing Afal, the vocalist Esther Aguilar Conesa.
