The Town Hall hosted yesterday a working meeting of the Bureau on the viability of the Province of Cartagena.
On behalf of MC, the president, Jesús Giménez, and the mayor of the municipal group, María José Soler, attended.
As a conclusion of the work carried out in this forum of participation, Jesús Giménez expressed the satisfaction of the Cartagena training because "it is going to have a document in which each of the municipal groups, the Platform for the Biprovincialidad and the Federation of Neighborhood associations show their approach to the municipality and the Campo de Cartagena region, sharing that there is a negative discrimination in the budgetary, that there is a political centralism in this Autonomous Community that harms us and also that it is necessary to modify these issues by an acknowledgment to the history, to the culture, to the economy, to the geography and to the own activity and to the rights of all the inhabitants of the Region of the Field of Cartagena ".
On the other hand, he pointed out that "all the municipal groups, the Platform and the neighbors adhere to the study of the localization proposed by the mayor José López, and that the University of Murcia made available to the Bureau, all except the PP, that continues to keep its back to the reality of Cartagena and its region, and prefer not to discuss these issues, and put the citizens in their place who does not work for them.
The Bureau, added Giménez, manifests "its support to the Shire, in an imminent manner, so that a rule that has not been made since the year 83, to enhance the commonwealth of services, being the province as a solution excellent for the problems of this Community, recognizing that the uniprovincialidad is the problem, as the Minister of Finance said last week, the solution can only offer the province, gaining the political weight that the Autonomous Community currently lacks.
Among the final conclusions of the Mesa is a majority recognition of the existence of a harmful centralism, support for regional decentralization, the legal viability of the creation of bi-provinciality, as well as the incorporation into the reform of the Statute of Autonomy of the reference to the province and the restitution of the province of Cartagena.
