The 54 social entities benefiting from the program of grants to non-profit institutions of the City of Cartagena, will sign this Tuesday December 12 at 5:00 pm in the Ceremonial Hall the respective agreements as approved by the Government Board last November 21.
The event will be attended by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the Councilor for Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, and the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, as well as representatives from each of the beneficiary entities.
Specifically, the Board approved granting aid amounting to 482,739 euros to forty-nine non-profit institutions, with headquarters or delegation in the municipality and collaborating in the provision of social services programs, and grants amounting to 60,028 euros to five non-profit entities with headquarters or delegation in Cartagena that have submitted International Cooperation projects.
Within the first group, aid is collected for various projects aimed at working with groups at risk of social exclusion, people with disabilities and chronic diseases, immigrants or drug addicts in Cartagena.
Among the amounts granted, the 93,045 euros that are destined to support the action project of Cáritas Cartagena stand out;
33,000 euros, granted to the Asilo Store Foundation of San Pedro;
22,000 euros to the NGO ACCEM, to provide service to the homeless and immigrants;
a grant of 18,000 euros for the foundation Marraja Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, for Sheltered Housing for the elderly;
or the 17,000 euros that have been granted to Acción Familiar for the prevention of drug addiction.
As for the five non-profit institutions of the municipality, which have submitted projects of international cooperation for development, all the subsidized programs are directed to the poorest countries of the world according to the United Nations Development Program.
Specifically, 19,000 euros will go to improve the lives of the inhabitants of Burkina Faso through the Asilo San Pedro Store Foundation;
To improve the health of Cameroon, 9,921 euros have been allocated through the FADE Foundation;
to collaborate with education in Bouakë (Ivory Coast), another grant of 11,026 euros, for the NGO SED;
Senegal will reach 14,580 euros for a project that seeks to reduce the illiteracy rate of the CEPAIM Foundation;
and finally, 5,500 euros, for a children's house and workshops in Madagascar, organized by Acción Baobab.
