- The municipal spokesman, Manuel Padín, does not understand "how the City Council allows itself to announce that it will satisfy one of the most basic needs of the residents of El Algar and then let it pass almost a year without this happening, and without any explanation some, is unacceptable, a lack of respect for neighbors "
Almost a year ago, on January 13, 2017, the Department of Education announced with great fanfare the setting up of a Study Room in the Social Center of El Algar, in the room attached to the Pensioner's Home.
This space was then visited by the Councilor for Education, David Martinez with the Councilor for Decentralization, Juan Pedro Torralba, and announced its opening by the end of that month.
They placed new tables and chairs and a card access.
The investment made by the Department for the implementation of this space was around 3,000 euros.
Citizens denounce that despite this announcement and that commitment the Study Room is closed since then.
The vocal of Citizens in El Algar, Ángel Sánchez, has informed that to open this classroom still requires the installation of a Wi-Fi network, the placement of plugs and studio light, the installation of a security camera, moving the card reader access to the main entrance, and the acquisition of more peripheral tables.
For his part, the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, explained that "prepare space for study has been and is one of the most pressing neighborhood claims, for the residents of El Algar is a short-term solution waiting for a library to be created at Casa Rubio. "
Ciudadanos recalled that this request from neighbors, who have come to collect signatures, is motivated by the fact that many students in the area have to travel to other locations to find a place to study with all the necessary services, registering in some occasion an accident in these transfers, "a risk that would be minimized by opening the classroom once and for all," said Manuel Padín.
"The neighbors are fed up with the promises and the announcements that do not translate into realities", said the Citizen spokesman who does not understand "how the City Council allows itself to announce that it will satisfy one of the most basic needs of the residents of El Salvador. Algar and then let almost a year pass without this happening, and without any explanation, is unacceptable, a lack of respect for neighbors.
Manuel Padín recalled that the creation of this space was approved by the Neighborhood Board in March of 2016 unanimously, "something does not work in the City when an affordable project like this can not get ahead two years after is requested in the neighborhood. "
Ciudadanos has announced that it will carefully analyze the best way to promote this project and does not rule out presenting a motion at the next municipal plenary session in this regard.
