Some 350 people from the ecological groups CreeCT and Association of Naturalists of the Southeast (ANSE), along with members of AFORCA, scout groups, residents of the neighborhoods of Los Mateos and Santa Lucia and technicians of the City of Cartagena, participated this Sunday in a day of reforestation of the mount of the Castle of the Moors.
The first deputy mayor and councilor of Youth, Ricardo Segado, the councilor for Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, the councilor for Finance, Isabel García, and the councilor of the municipal government team José López, as well as other councilors of the opposition , were present in this day in which in total about a thousand copies of native varieties such as the sabina mora or cypress of Cartagena, carob, holm oak, pine, acorn, mastic, wild olive, cornicabra, bayon and lavender were planted, among others.
These trees and bushes were put by the environmental associations that participated in the day with the collaboration of the Repsol Foundation.
Likewise, the installation of information posters of the replanted species was included.
As a previous step, the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Sustainable Development, had conditioned the area during the month of November with the removal of dirt from the site, which was also provided with topsoil.
After the reforestation, it will correspond to the Consistory the irrigation of the plants during the first 15 days and then periodically approximately twice a month on average, according to the season of the year.
At the end of the day a large paella was shared, the Castle of the Moors was visited with the warden of Aforca and a mural was made.
This activity is also part of the European MAPS program, which is being developed in the Los Mateos neighborhood.
