Miguel Ángel Lorente, from the comparsa Aradia, and África Hernández, from the comparsa Paraíso, will play in 2018 Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma at the Carnival of Cartagena.
The protagonists of this festival of Regional Tourist Interest, have presented this morning of Monday to the media in a press conference in which they have also appeared the Councilman of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, the President of the Carnival Federation, Carmen Sanchez, and its vice president, Eduardo Pignatelli to publicize the poster that will paper the city and the Region to promote these holidays.
The 2018 Carnival poster is signed by the León César Núñez, with the title "Metamorphosis".
In the contest to choose it, to which 45 candidates have been presented, each year there are more participants from the Region and from other autonomous communities, something that shows that this festival is made every year bigger, the councilor has considered.
Torralba wanted to highlight the commitment of all the participants of the Carnival in everything perfect, something that encourages the City to work "shoulder to shoulder" with the Federation to achieve the recognition of National Tourist Interest.
Three times Núñez has presented himself to this contest before winning, and with his work he shows his "great commitment" to Carnival, the president of the Federation has valued.
He himself has sent a few lines explaining the poster in which he draws inspiration from the elements of the city to create a character "with a façade face of the Town Hall, a mustache representing the whale tail of the port and a bus stop that ends in the famous underwater "by Isaac Peral, in the mask of a man disguised as a harlequin.
All this creates "a colorful, carnivalesque and creative metamorphosis", which had already been predicted by the author himself who would become the winner this year when he was visited in his art shop by a woman from Cartagena to whom he taught his work and he assured him with laughter that it was "the future poster of the city's Carnival".
On the other hand, Don Carnal, Miguel Ángel Lorente, has expressed the "joy and respect" that inspires him to play this role at next year's parties.
Happiness for the pride of being chosen by the commission, and respect for the fact that in his person he represents all the "carnavaleros, who devote so much time" to this party.
Doña Cuaresma, África Hernández, is the daughter and granddaughter of "carnavaleras", and for that she feels a great responsibility and has indicated that she will give the best of herself.
Pignatelli wanted to advance some of the key dates of the Carnival for citizens' forecast.
The semifinals of the National Contest of Chirigotas will be on February 7 and 8 and the final on the 9th, all the performances at the El Batel Auditorium.
The tickets will go on sale on December 22, both in the same auditorium and in the Nuevo Teatro Circo and in their respective web pages.
The galas of Queen Infant and Queen Adult will be on February 2 and 3, and the next day, February 4, will be held the competitions of children and adult choreography.
The III Drag-Queen National Contest "City of Cartagena", will take place on February 5.
