The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited the Hogar Torre de Nazaret association in Cartagena on the occasion of World AIDS Day.

The Minister highlighted "the extraordinary humanitarian work carried out by the organization in the reception of HIV-dependent carriers".

The center has 20 places, of which 16 are arranged with the Autonomous Community, ten with the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS), which allocates 200,000 euros for this purpose;

and six with the Murciano Health Service (SMS), which subsidizes the organization with 120,000 euros.

This entity attends each year to some 25 dependent patients, in a semi-residential residential regime, in addition to promoting the occupational center that it has in the Cartagena neighborhood of Lo Campano.

Violante Tomás stressed the importance of "early diagnosis of the virus" so he encouraged the population in general to get tested for HIV / AIDS.
