The program of workshops of 'Cartagena Piensa', developed through the Network of Libraries of the City of Cartagena, which have been held this year closed on Wednesday with a significant increase in participation compared to last year.
The balance of these activities has been "very enriching and positive for the good response and participation of citizens as well as the quality of teachers," said David Martinez, Councilor for Education, Culture and Equality.
The workshops that were developed during 2017 in seven municipal libraries, had the attendance of 954 adults, 200 more than last year, and nearly 2,000 children participants, 526 more than in the previous edition.
Attendees have enjoyed 80 leisure and educational activities that have dealt with varied topics of great interest.
UPCT WORKSHOPS
In the last quarter programmed by 'Cartagena Piensa' different proposals have been organized ranging from scientific and technological dissemination to the study of philosophy.
The workshops of the UPCT, for the ludic dissemination of science and technology, have been programmed in order to familiarize the little ones in a fun and creative way with the world of technoscience.
The coordinator of this activity, José Luis Serrano, responsible for Scientific Culture of the UPCT, showed yesterday, the day of the closure, "very satisfied to be able to take to the streets" the "work and research of the University".
In this sense, Serrano recalls that all the schools and professors and students of the UPCT have programmed workshops on holograms, telecommunications, civil engineering, activities for children to discover where water comes from, how children are built bridges, the meaning of colors has been studied, etc.
The closing of the courses was attended by parents such as Professor of Telecommunications José Luis Gómez Tornero, who said he was "very happy with the development of workshops that have brought technology and engineering" to their children "in a simple, interactive and very educational ".
SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY AND ASTRONOMY
With the aim of inviting participants to ask themselves why everyday phenomena surround us, so that children exercise imagination and creativity, the professor of physics and chemistry Cayetano Gutiérrez has coordinated the workshops 'Enjoy with science' , an activity in which children under 5 to 15 have participated and which has provided them with useful strategies for daily life.
For children aged 7 to 10 years, drawing and philosophy workshops have also been programmed.
'The Geometers' has introduced the attendees into the life and work of several pre-Socratic philosophers related to geometry.
Taught by Mateo Ripoll, history and philosophy of science have been combined with drawing and visual languages.
The Astronomical Association of Cartagena has organized, under the teaching of Cristina Díaz, two interesting workshops that have dealt with our situation of the Milky Way, how planets are formed, the role of the Moon and a lot of curiosities that children have asked during the activity.
ADULT WORKSHOPS
Despite the prominence that the Department of Culture has wanted to give to the youngest of the house, the program has also had some interesting philosophy workshops for adults.
Taught by Alejandro Moreno Lax, the activities have worked on issues such as the place of power, the philosophy of life, Socrates and the return of wisdom and Nietzsche and the stages of life.
The activity given by Hayat Nuraidin was very successful. One of them was directed to parents who learned about stimulation through music and the movement for babies and the rhythm and musicality workshop for children.
