The councilor of the area of Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, held a working meeting this morning, in the administrative building of San Miguel, with representatives of the animal protection associations registered in the Municipal Register of Associations, to address issues related to agreement approved during the last Board of Government between the City of Cartagena and these entities to subsidize the promotion of the adoption of dogs and cats.
Calderón, accompanied by municipal technicians, has explained the contents of the agreement, as well as resolving the doubts that have been raised.
A total of five protectors, currently registered in the Municipal Register of Associations on October 31, 2017, can adhere to the signing of the agreement until November 30.
This collaboration will aim to adopt abandoned animals, of the canine and feline species, which are registered in the Municipal Register of pets.
There are two lines of collaboration: the bonus to the entities in the adoption of abandoned animals from the Municipal Center for the Reception and Treatment of Domestic Animals (CATAD), as well as in the adoption of abandoned animals managed by the own protector.
The total amount allocated to the agreements amounts to 20,000 euros, the object of the agreement being the adoptions made between January 1, 2017 and November 30 of this year.
OTHER MEASURES
The aforementioned agreements constitute a new sample of the will maintained by the Quality of Life area to institutionalize the channels that guarantee animal welfare.
This is proven through numerous information campaigns and actions, such as the work to adapt the cheniles in the CATAD.
Also through the construction of the first canine park in the municipality of Cartagena, located in the Parque de la Rosa.
Finally, in recent dates, it was known that in the modification of the fiscal ordinances of 2018 promoted by the mayor of the Treasury, Isabel García, the abolition of the adoption fee is included, an issue that will be applicable to animal protection.
