On Sunday, December 3, Cartagena will celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which this year has the motto "Cartagena for All."
A performance organized by the Unit for the Elderly and Disability of the Department of Social Services presented by the councilor of the Area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, and the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor. A day that aims to visualize , mobilize and highlight key aspects related to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and their full inclusion in society.
The event was attended by representatives of different schools
"Our work from public institutions is to work on policies that pursue equal opportunities to achieve the independent life that all people with disabilities seek," said Martín del Amor. In this regard, he recalled that the City of Cartagena has prepared a Plan of Disability: "Cartagena for all", and the Accessibility Ordinance Project, in which all the entities of the city that group people with special abilities and their families have participated.
The councilor has valued as "a very good year" 2017 for all these entities to which he has thanked his effort.
For his part, Calderón wanted to highlight the adequacy of the theme that has been chosen this year and has had a few words towards associations working with people of other abilities, expressing support from the City Council, which seeks to collaborate in their activities to the extent possible. the possible given the important social work done in the municipality.
This ludic-festive day will be held in the Town Hall Square between 11:30 and 15:30.
People who come will be able to enjoy workshops, dance exhibitions, theater, games and sports activities organized by the participating entities coordinated by the Department of Social Services.
In addition the group "Stolen" will act during the celebration of the acts.
At 13:30 the manifesto will be read on this day, which this year has been called "Manifest of Desires".
A popular michironada will put an end to this commemorative day.
This year includes entities working with people at risk of social exclusion, specifically the Cepaim Foundation.
Both councilors have invited all citizens of Cartagena to participate in this great party.
