The Cartagena International Film Festival will feature on its third day of programming, Tuesday, November 28, with the presence of Cecilia Ibáñez, producer of the film «Crumbs of bread».
The film can be seen in the session at 7:00 pm after its presentation.
The Spanish-Uruguayan drama directed by Manane Rodríguez tells the real story of Liliana Pereiro, a university student and mother of a baby who participates in the student struggles against the civic-military dictatorship in Uruguay.
Along with other women, she is kidnapped, imprisoned, tortured and dispossessed of her son.
After years of exile in Spain, and upon learning that she will be a grandmother, she decides to return to her country to participate in the denunciation of the hell suffered in her youth and to recover the sentimental ties with her son.
Earlier, at 4:30 p.m., the Official Selection will begin with the short film "Sweet Maddie Stone" by Brady Hood, followed by the Belgian film "Insyriated", in which screenwriter and director Philippe Van Leeuw addresses the Syrian conflict through an apartment in Damascus where Oum Yazan, his three children and their neighbors take refuge.
Finally, "120 beats per minute", by Robin Campillo, will be screened at 10 p.m.
This film, awarded at the Cannes Film Festival and selected to represent France at the next edition of the Oscars, is about the Paris of the early 90s, when a group of young activists tries to raise awareness about AIDS.
It will be preceded by the short film «La disco reslandece», directed by Chema García Ibarra.
Chema García was the winner of the Carabela de Plata award Cartagena City of the FICC in 2009 with his work «The attack of the Nebula-5 robots».
PARALLEL SECTIONS
'Anime tale' will show the youngest of the city the story of 'Vaiana', a young girl who wants to explore the world sailing the ocean.
It will be in the New Theater Circus in two passes, at 9:45 and 11:45 hours.
Next, at 10:00 a.m., the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center will host the screening of the American western "Centauros del desierto", as part of the John Ford cycle of 'Jóvenes AFFECADOS'.
The projector of the 'Lumière Brothers' room of the Luzzy will turn on again at 5:00 p.m. to show "Lumière!
The adventure begins".
This documentary, belonging to the section 'Europa.doc', offers a selection of 108 restored films by the Lumière brothers, which take us back to the origins of cinema in 1895, with the help of its director, Thierry Frémaux.
It will be screened preceded by two short films: «Suspense or Surprise», by Daniel Bernal Hernández, and «Paula», by Jesús López Melgares.
Luzzy will also host the 'Cineistas' section, dedicated to independent Spanish cinema and alternative trends.
This Tuesday will start at 8:00 pm with the short films «The Last Dance», by Manuel García Otazo, and «Lázaro», by Pedro J. Sáez.
Behind them will be the feature film "Selfie" by Víctor García León, which tells the story of Bosco (Santiago Alverú), the son of a minister accused of corruption, embezzlement of public funds, money laundering and several dozen economic crimes .
The Korean cinema exhibition 'Cartagena looks at Seoul' will continue in the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation Culture Classroom with two contemporary classics: "The Arch", by Kim Ki-duk, at 6:00 p.m., and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" , by Park Chan-wook, at 8:00 p.m.
