Cartagena, Monday, November 27.
The councilors of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín and Alfredo Nieto attended today the Informative Committee on Urban Planning and Infrastructure where the report of the allegations to the Transitory Urban Regulations has been presented and explained.
The ediles of the orange formation today have given their approval to the report of the allegations that will be sent to the next ordinary Plenary and then be transferred to the Autonomous Community.
The spokesman for Citizens, Manuel Padín, stressed that "Cartagena needs as soon as possible a regulatory framework that enables the urban and business development of the municipality."
"Although others, irresponsibly, prefer to paralyze the municipality while the new PGOU is being written, we work to unblock important urban projects as soon as possible, among them the extensions of many companies in the Valley of Escombreras, which can not be developed by applying the PGOU of 1987, "explained Manuel Padín.
The position of Citizens before this complex process that has filled our entrepreneurs and promoters with uncertainty has always been the same, "respect above all for the law, work and do everything in our power to give security and confidence where now there is only insecurity and distrust, to follow at all times the criterion of municipal technicians, and look for the economic interests of the municipality.
Manuel Padín recalled that "if we are immersed in this, it is because the Popular Party Government did not do its job well with the PGOU annulled by the Supreme Court, and now we are the others who have to amend their botch."
Manuel Padín explained that there are many projects that are waiting for the application of the transitory norms as already explained by the Association of Promoters of Cartagena, as the project together with the school of the Adoratrices, in the surroundings of La Manga Club, in Atamaría and in Mar of Cristal worth 500 million euros, not to mention the millions of euros that are waiting to be invested in the expansion of some companies in the Valley of Escombreras, such as Ecocarburantes with three million euros, Special Oils of the Mediterranean (Aemedsa), with 10 million euros, or the transfer from El Albujón to Escombreras of a plant to build a cold asphalt manufacturing facility, with 2.5 million euros, "we can not in any way paralyze the development that all this entails, the generation of wealth and the hundreds of associated jobs ".
"We hope that the deadlines will run their course and the Autonomous Community will be diligent when they reach the allegations because the immediate future of Cartagena is at stake," says Manuel Padín, who explained that this "does not exempt the City from its duty to design, with the maximum possible participation, a new PGOU that offers Cartagena security for our business fabric, environmental protection for our heritage and natural treasures, and wealth linked to employment in the next ten or twenty years for Cartagena ".
