The Speed Circuit of Cartagena has changed on Thursday the smell of gasoline and tires for a healthier activity such as athletics to host a new edition of the traditional School Cross, which have gathered about 1,500 children up to 53 educational centers of the municipality.
This event, which already has a trajectory of more than three decades, is part of the Physical Activity and Sports Program for School Age 2017/2018, organized by the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena in collaboration with the General Directorate of and Sports of the Region of Murcia, and has had the assistance of the mayor of this same area, Ricardo Segado, who has been in charge of delivering the trophies and medals to the winners and winners.
It has been a playful day in which schoolchildren from public and concert centers have competed through a mixed route that combined sections of asphalt along the track itself with segments of land.
Girls and boys have been divided into a total of five categories, from youngest to juvenile, and by gender and have ran distances ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 meters.
Ricardo Segado has highlighted in this sense that it has been "a festive morning for children to relate to each other and live those sports values as competitiveness", which understands that we should not see from a negative perspective but rather positive, "and the camaraderie. "
The mayor of Sports also believes that this day is for children to have a good time in "a day of coexistence" and also "learn what sport means", know how to practice "and take the habit" to do so "daily".
Physical activity "is good for the body and for the mind," said Segado, who added that in this Cross School "they do it safely in this Speed Circuit", to which he thanked "his involvement and that overturn with this type of activities for the promotion of the sport ".
The first classified in this test, both teams and individual categories, represent Cartagena in the regional final that will take place on January 31, 2018 in Puerto Lumbreras for children, cadets and youth and March 9, 2018 in San Pedro del Pinatar for the youngest and youngest.
