Hashish resin has been seized in the interior of one of the pleasure boats
The three crew members have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of public health crime for drug trafficking
Agents belonging to the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, deployed in the framework of the operation INDALO that the European agency FRONTEX performs in the Mediterranean, have intercepted in waters near the coast of Murcia a boat that transported 1,300 kilos of hashish resin.
In the operation, the three people who were on board the vessel were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health for drug trafficking.
The proceedings began on the morning of Monday, November 20, when the crew of an oceanic vessel of the Maritime Service of the Body sailed on the coast near Cartagena.
The agents detected the presence of two boats that were covered for, moments later, to separate and continue their route, reason why they suspected the aforementioned maneuver and arranged the lowering of one of the auxiliary vessels to begin their follow-up.
Eight nautical miles from Cabo de Palos, the agents managed to intercept a rigid boat equipped with an outboard engine and Spanish flag, which at the time of the embarkation of the agents tried to sink, apparently operating the device for opening the bottom taps .
On board, three men, aged 48, 36 and 28, were sailing, one of them of Spanish nationality and neighbor of Los Nietos-Cartagena and two Moroccans who were identified while the work of recognizing the boat began.
On the deck of the vessel several suspicious packages were detected, which after their inspection turned out to contain hashish resin, for which the three occupants of the vessel were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, for drug trafficking, transferred to the oceanic vessel of the Maritime Service and admitted to the area of ​​custody of detainees, until its transfer to police offices in Cartagena.
At the same time, the boat that was the object of the drug transport began to sink, so it was towed to the Cartagena wharf.
The work of refloating to land and internal inspection of the boat, carried out by personnel of the Underwater Activities Group (GEAS) of the Civil Guard, allowed to locate in several rooms and cabins another considerable number of bales of the employees for the packing and transportation of hashish.
The total of the drug seized inside the boat amounts to 1,300 kilos of hashish resin that, along with the boat, have been seized and placed at the disposal of the court.
The arrested, the proceedings, the drugs and the seized boat have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction on duty in Cartagena.
