The Local Government Board, held yesterday November 21, approved the proposal of Social Services, dependent on the area of ​​Quality of Life, to grant subsidies, for a total amount of 650,875 euros to non-profit entities, schools and centers greater.
In total one hundred and thirty-one agencies will perceive different amounts, in the form of grants, which will serve to support the social work they develop in different areas, as stressed by the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín.
The Board approved to grant aid, for an amount of 482,739 euros, to forty-nine non-profit institutions, with headquarters or delegation in the municipality and collaborating in the provision of social services programs, aimed at groups at risk of social exclusion , people with disabilities and drug-dependent immigrants.
The highest amount of 93,045 euros has been allocated to support the action project of Cáritas Cartagena;
33,000 euros have been granted to the Asilo Store Foundation of San Pedro;
the NGO ACCEM, will have 22,000 euros, to provide service to the homeless and immigrants;
the association of Charity, San Vicente de Paúl, will receive a grant of 18,000 euros and the foundation Marraja Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, will receive the same amount.
It also highlights the subsidy granted to Acción Familiar for the prevention of drug addiction, amounting to 17,000 euros.
The subsidies of less amount have been 1,000 euros, such as those granted to the Athenaeum of Popular Culture of Cartagena for a project of counseling and educational guidance Ateneo and the association of Solidarity in Action Cartagena (SENA) for assistance to people and families in need.
Also, five non-profit institutions of the municipality, which have submitted international development cooperation projects will receive aid, in this case, for a total value of 60,028 euros.
Of them, 19,000 euros will go to improve the lives of the inhabitants of Burkina Faso;
To improve the health of Cameroon, 9,921 euros have been allocated;
to collaborate with education in Bouakë (Ivory Coast), another grant of 11,026 euros;
up to Senegal will reach 14,580 euros, which will reduce the illiteracy rate;
and finally, 5,500 euros, will change the lives of Madagascar's children by creating workshops for them.
Other beneficiaries of this aid have been thirty-eight public early childhood, primary and secondary schools in the municipality, which will receive aid of 50,000 euros for the acquisition of textbooks.
Finally, 63,108 euros will be allocated to thirty-nine Associations Federations and Centers for Older Persons and Senior Clubs, which promote actions aimed at older people.
