Tenders for the consolidation of the walls of the old Plaza de Toros de Cartagena With a budget of 200 thousand euros, companies have to submit bids until next November 28 (21/11/2017)

The project for the consolidation of the bullring in Cartagena (Phase I, southeast ring), promoted by the Culture and Heritage area led by Ricardo Segado, has been put out to tender, and companies can present their proposals, by telephone, to through the Contracting area until next November 28.

The tender budget is set at 200,000 euros.

It is a novel project, designed for the whole of the Plaza de Toros - Roman Amphitheater of Cartagena, which proposes the consolidation of the double wall of the old bullring through a reinforcement system over its entire surface, and will allow the full recovery of the interior space of the double wall, initially about 18 meters.

In this way, once consolidated, the excavation of the minor axis of the Amphitheater will be carried out with absolute security with its set of rooms with integral roof, as shown in the drawings of the 18th century.

At the end of last September, during the presentation of the project, the municipal coordinator of Historical and Archaeological Heritage, Mari Carmen Berrocal, stated that the objective "is to consolidate the double wall of the bullring (front and interior) to eliminate the micropilotage.

The double wall, from the façade to the autopsy pavilion, will be maintained with a practical purpose as a place of exhibition and interpretation or museographic zone, and will have three heights ".

The documentation that is extracted will be the basis for the realization of a master plan.

It should be noted that this project is subject to the following specific regulations the Cultural Heritage laws of the CARM, and the Spanish Historical Heritage.

ROMAN ANFITEATRO DE CARTAGENA

The Roman Amphitheater of Cartagena is one of the 15 of the Iberian Peninsula, being one of the six with monumental remains.

Only five cities, including Cartagena, are home to Anfiteatro and Romano, and only four have a theater and amphitheater considered monumental.

The one in Cartagena is the only amphitheater that has not yet been recovered and put into value.
