The Cycle of Promotional Concert of the XXI edition of the Contest Between Strings and Metals lived, on the afternoon of Monday, November 20, its first musical stop at the Conservatory of Music of Lorca.
The award-winning soloists, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, acted before the large audience that came to Lorca, showing a unique professionalism in each of their performances.
The first concert was offered by the pianist Víctor Amaya, the tuba Félix Ismael Gallardo, the flutist Mª Dolores Valverde and the soprano María del Carmen Portela, all of them first prizes in their respective modalities of the last edition of the Entre Cuerdas y Metales Contest.
This Wednesday, November 21st, the second promotional concert of Entre Cuerdas y Metales is offered, in a very special setting, such as the Convent of San José de Carmelitas Church of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The concert, which will begin at 7:00 pm, will begin with the interpretation of the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, also directed by Andrés Pérez, of the work Passacaglia en Sol m by GF Händel.
Continuing with the first guitar soloist Antonio Molina, who will play the Romanza del Concertino for Guitar and Orchestra in La m de Salvador Bacarisse.
Antonio Molina began his guitar musical studies at the age of nine with Isabel María Martínez, currently a professor at the Conservatory of Music of San Javier.
Two years later, at the age of eleven, he began elementary studies at the Narval Elementary Conservatory, which ended in three years, studying with Luis Arasanz.
In 2014 he entered the Professional Conservatory of Cartagena, where he went on to study with Guillermo Grau as tutor in the first place, later with Juan Ramón López.
He has attended summer courses at the Professional Conservatory of San Javier, specifically master classes, as a listener, Manuel Barrueco (2015), and another as an active student of Ignacio Rodes (2017).
Currently, in the 2017/2018 academic year, he is taking his 1st course at the Superior Conservatory of Murcia M. Massotti Littel.
The concert will continue with the flutist María Dolores Valverde, and the soprano María del Carmen Portela, both performed on the first day that Lorca hosted.
And it will end with two more of the winners of the last edition: the cellist Sergio Arques, and the percussionist Ángel Rodríguez.
Sergio Arques starts his cello studies at the Professional Music Conservatory of Cartagena with Professor Juan Pedro Torres.
He is currently in the 5th year of EPM with professor Elena María García Sánchez, with whom he has been teaching since he was 9 years old.
He has done different advanced courses with the professors Iagoba Fanlo (professor of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid), Eduardo González López (professor of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Castilla La-Mancha), Marta Requena (professor of the Baroque cello of the Conservatorio Superior de music of Seville), Michal Dmochowski (assistant professor of the Reina Sofia School of Music), Irene Ortega and Gonzalo Meseguer.
Among the prizes obtained apart from the Entre Cuerdas y Metals contest, he won the second prize in his category in the national violoncello contest "Jaime Dobato Benavente" and the first prize in the contest "Young Interpreters Villa de Molina".
He has collaborated with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena (JOSCT).
Ángel Rodríguez began his musical studies in Calasparra, at the age of seven, choosing the specialty of percussion.
Since he was 11 years old, he is part of the Calasparra Music Band Association, and with 12 he starts his Middle School studies at the Music Conservatory of Caravaca de la Cruz Leandro Martínez Romero.
In this center graduates in 2017, obtaining the highest grades.
He has actively participated in various musical projects in the Region of Murcia, such as the Band of students of the Conservatories of the Region of Murcia or Symphonic Band of the Federation of bands of the Region of Murcia.
He is also a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Northwest of Murcia, (JONOMUR), under the baton of Juan Jesús López.
He has won the first prize in the V edition of the contest for young performers Villa de Molina.
He has taken courses in technique and interpretation with percussionists such as Conrado Moya, Raúl Benavent, Esau Borreda, Verónica Cagigao and Carolina Alcaraz.
All of them will act as soloists with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, directed by Andrés Pérez.
On Thursday, November 23, this series of concerts will be closed with a double program at the Auditorium of the Music Conservatory of Cartagena.
The first of the concerts, which will be held in the port city, will be at 1:00 pm and the flamenco winners will perform, accompanied by their teachers.
At 19:00 hours, the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena will accompany five of the winners of the previous edition, closing this cycle of Promotional Concerts.
The entrance to all the Promotional Concerts of the XXI edition of the Strings and Metals Contest is free, until full capacity is reached.
