The president of the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia, José Molina, offered on Monday the conference 'Participatory Budgeting: for a transparent society', at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
The event, organized by the Department of Culture, Education and Equality, and the Area of ​​Citizen Participation and Good Government of the City of Cartagena, with the collaboration of the program 'Cartagena Piensa', is part of the current process of debate and proposals for Participatory Budgets of Cartagena, which are being carried out for the second consecutive year.
Thus, Molina was accompanied by the councilor of the Sustainable Development Area, María José Soler and Transparencia the councilor of the area of ​​Citizen Participation and Good Government, Juan Pedro Torralba, with him who held a meeting before offering the conference.
On the subject of his conference, José Molina pointed out that "participatory budgets reinforce transparency and develop a policy of integrity in an open governance system, for its implementation requires leadership, independence and a very active citizen participation. we have to understand that the public is everyone's, that the one who governs is a manager of the media and that the right to know is the key to building a new society. "
The event was opened, so associations and citizens interested in Participatory Budgeting and transparency were invited as a principle that should be fully incorporated into the work of public institutions.
José Molina holds a doctorate in economics, sociologist and auditor, professor and lecturer in different schools and universities and author of different reference books and publications on transparency, public spending and participatory budgeting.
