The Brotherhood of Romeros of San Ginés de la Jara has organized for next Sunday November 26 a pilgrimage with the image of San Ginés de la Jara to Caravaca de la Cruz, in which anyone who wishes can participate.
An event that will also serve to promote the historical and religious wealth of Cartagena among the caravaqueños and all those who are in the holy city that day, has indicated the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, who has appeared to make known the details of This pilgrimage together with the chaplain of the Brotherhood of San Ginés de la Jara, Lázaro Gomariz, and the president of the Brotherhood of Romeros of San Ginés de La Jara, Andrés García.
The pilgrims will depart at 7:30 am from the Cenit Shopping Center parking lot and have breakfast en route.
At 10:00 a procession will depart from the parish of La Concepción with the image of San Ginés de la Jara through the streets of the historic center of the holy city to the Basilica Sanctuary of Vera Cruz, where the Holy Mass will be celebrated to win the jubilee.
Then it will be eaten in the halls of the castle.
The councilor has said that traditions such as the Pilgrimage of San Ginés, along with many other religious celebrations, are an important driver in the attraction of tourism to Cartagena, who come to know the traditions and heritage of the city.
"Thanks to the activity of the Brotherhood of Romeros of San Ginés de la Jara, which every year organizes with such affection the increasingly popular pilgrimage of the saint, [...] they contribute to the increase of the religious tourist offer of Cartagena" indicated Obdulia Gómez, who has announced that in order to continue making this immaterial and material heritage known, the pilgrims will distribute tourist brochures among the people.
For his part, the chaplain of the Brotherhood has expressed the importance of this pilgrimage of one of the saints of Cartagena, cradle and door of faith in Spain.
"Many things came through the port of Cartagena, but the main one for Christians is faith, and that is why the Brotherhood of Romeros wanted to pay homage to that faith", Gomariz explained, "if the most exalted relic of the diocese of Cartagena is the Vera Cruz de Caravaca, as the patron saint of the diocese of the same diocese would not go, "and he encouraged the people to accompany the saint and Cartagena on that pilgrimage.
The pilgrims are also invited to come with traditional clothes from Cartagena.
The president of the Brotherhood of Romeros has announced that there are already two buses chartered with participants of this pilgrimage, among which there will be devotees to the saint who will come from the municipality of Sabiote.
The image of San Ginés will show two novelties that Andrés García did not want to detail to be a surprise that day.
Mar Saura Rosique also thanked the realization of the poster announcing the activity.
