The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, supervised during the afternoon and evening of yesterday, as well as from early this morning, the device that has been enabled to provide humanitarian assistance to the hundreds of people who arrived in the last hours to our shores. .
Castejón thanked the predisposition and magnificent work carried out by all the social entities of the municipality, which from the first moment have offered to collaborate with the City Council.
From the Hospitality of Santa Teresa to Caritas, Red Cross, Cepaim, Accem and Murcia Acoge, among others, have put all their means at the disposal of the consistory.
He also highlighted the work of municipal staff, both the Department of Social Services and the Sports, Sustainable Development and Decentralization.
"They have worked since yesterday without rest for the whole operation to be ready, to have a staff like this at the Town Hall is a privilege."
The mayor also thanked the cooperation of the concession companies, such as ALSA and Lhicarsa.
"Cartagena has demonstrated once again that it is a solidary municipality, in the face of the most complex situations, our collectives and our staff grow up to be equal to the circumstances." This terrible human drama required great effort and we have done everything it was in our hands so that the immigrants are in the best possible situation, "said Ana Belén Castejón.
The mayor also thanked the close collaboration and coordination with the Delegation of the Government and the Autonomous Community, as well as the work of all the State Security and the Navy.
A WIDE DEVICE
Within this device, the pavilion of the Hésperides Institute in Santa Lucía has been installed, where around 270 beds have been installed.
