The work of José Luis Ferris' Words against oblivion.

Life and work of María Teresa León (1903-1988) ', awarded with the Domínguez Ortíz Award for Biography 2017, published this year by the Editorial José Manuel Lara Foundation, will be presented on Tuesday, November 21, at 7:00 p.m. Assembly Hall of the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineers (ETSIA), with the participation of the author and presentation by the professor of the University of Murcia, César Oliva, in an event organized by the Carmen Conde Collective of Adults, the Department of Culture of the City Council and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

The figure of María Teresa León was linked to that of Rafael Alberti for at least fifty years, in which both lived together the decisive experiences of war and exile, but their relationship with the poet should not hide the contribution of one of the most dazzling writers of the generation of 27.

Author of stories, novels, biographies, essays, plays, scripts and press articles, María Teresa León embodied the ideal of the "new woman" emancipated that advocated republican Spain and left in his work, accused of autobiographical character, numerous clues of an itinerary marked by love and lack of love, combat and exile, commitment and loneliness, noise and silence, war and passion for life.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, explained that Ferris is "a profound connoisseur of the era and traces in these pages the passionate semblance of an extraordinary woman who, despite having defined herself as" the tail of the comet ", can not be reduced to a secondary role, both his career and his books speak of a brilliant "femme de lettre" who fought for freedom in all orders and whose fascinating journey, assumed as part of the collective epic of his generation, reflects an intimate, social, political, moral and literary adventure that deserves to be rescued from oblivion ".
